TIPS for contest holders
So you are going to hold a contest on forum, contests site or maybe you are already doing that. Anyway, it doesn’t matter but you should know something to achieve better results! Remember suggestions given here and you will absolutely have a better logo at the end of the contest. Tip: set a smart prize If your contest is on a website where designers can arrange contests let’s say by a reward. Then the highest paid contest are on the top and the lowest on the bottom. So, if you decide to pay $300 for a winner then you should make it be $301 because your site will be above all those $300 then. This way your contest will attract more designers than it could if it was $300 worth contest and was among other $300 paying contests. Look at this image, it is just a good example of what I have in mind: As you see there are several contests with $300 prize and one with $303 is on the top. It absolutely gets more attention from designer than those below it. Tip: leave comments carefully not to ...

So he decided to have some fun and launched this contest. Contest holder wanted to get the worst logo designers could come up with. And this is not an easy task for the designers! If you want to design a really ‘good’ logo, then you have to use the colours in a way to hurt the eyeballs. The concept should be stupid, unusual and.. Funny, of course! Win a contest
One of the designer’s earning ways on the internet is logo contests. People like contests because anyone can enter them and for the first time they think there is a really high chance to win a nice prize and it becomes exciting. Actually it doesn’t last for long. Imagine, you participate in 30 contests and win nothing! What would you do? I guess you would stop entering design contests regulary. That’s because you start losing your confidence. But I am sure you will enter new contests again and again when you win your first or other prize! The big thing is: the logo and other graphic you do has to appeal to yourself! Some time ago I have been entering these contests. I read the description, see other entries and then open Illustrator. Then I started making a logo and it mostly took me like 2 hours of work. But suddenly I started to criticize it! I was like: “It doesn’t look that good”, “Ouch, my eyeballs!”, “What is this? Does that have any link with the company? NO!!!”. After some monologue I submitted my artwork. And guess what.. I haven’t won any contest with ...

Do you see an eye-catchy logo but still in doubts whether buy it or not? Well, there are some rules for a logo to see if it is good for you. Firstly, even if the logo is very simple it has to have a link with the company. Many of the logos might be done only just to look good, but there is no benefit for you to have only a good looking logo which is not even relative to your company? Think of what will people think when they see your logo for the first time and have no clue what is your company doing. Then, look at the logo carefully. Check it’s details and see if they are well done. I mean look if the logo looks professional. Sometimes people buy a cheap logo with a cool concept. Well, you might think there is nothing wrong but they are mostly made by a beginner which doesn’t know some of the techniques and make the logo not to look ...
Logo parameters
As you may have already known, logos and other items are being used for various purposes: print, web and other. People join design contests and submit designs or they get an order to make a design. Before starting making a logo, the customer should mention where they are going to use their future logo. If not, then the designer has to ask him about that. It actually means a lot - it gives you a reference of what kind of logo it has to be. Logo for a web The first thing what most of the logos are used for is a website. So if a logo has to be made for a website only, then you have lots of possibilities. You can make any kind of logo you want - it could be a plain solid colour logo or a 3d logo, which is full of various effects, has reflection, dozens of gradients, shadows and whatever you like because it's a website and there are like no limits for a logo. You can see this logo as an example.
