Robert Ivy Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

A lot has happened in the architectural world, but we cannot forget Robert Ivy. His contribution to the entire industry has been immense and very impactful. Robert holds a bachelor’s degree from Sewanee University. He went on to receive a masters in Architecture from Tulane University. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Institute of Architects.

As CEO of AIA, Robert Ivy is a visionary man and has the opinion that architecture has a lot to offer. He sees that there is need to help groom architecture so that it has positive impacts in all sectors of life. There is need to view architecture as a tool of change especially in the social aspects and public health matters. In an interview with Kira Gould, co-author Women in Green, he said that banking on the young population of architects is the way to go to achieve the desired changes.

Speaking about Robert Ivy, the President of the American Institute of Architects says he is the ambassador of architecture. Robert Ivy is also the Vice President and the Director in charge editing at McGraw-Hill Construction for a short period. He was Editor-in-Chief of Architectural Record. During his stint at both publishing companies, they managed thirty-three publications. These include both digital and print. The leadership that he provided at Architectural Record enabled the publishing company to win various awards. The American Society of Magazine Editors recognized the company; it received the National Magazine Award.

Robert has many awards to his collection. These indicate the commitment and enthusiasm that Robert has for architecture. Robert’s excellence was highlighted when he clinched the Master of Architecture Award. Previous winners being icons; Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, John Root among other greats. He is the only architect from the twenty-first century with such an award. At a professional level, this indicates that what Robert has achieved in the architectural world is so huge.

It’s not usual that people from other careers recognize your effort. It takes something special to stand out. Robert has that “special something.” Robert is a man that believes in sharing ideas regardless of professions, financial status,race, or even religious background.Ivy once again joins the likes of Morgan Freeman, Walter Anderson and Leontyne Price as one of the greats in America. The Noel Polk Award confirmed this, a lifetime achievement award. Robert is the only architect to receive this Noel Polk Award.
